Doing Business in and With South Korea

DWC South Korea will take place in two dynamic and contrasting cities: Seoul and Busan. Seoul, with a population of over 9 million, serves as South Korea’s political and economic hub. The city seamlessly blends history and modernity, offering a mix of ancient cultural landmarks and cosmopolitan urban development. Busan, on the other hand, is a bustling coastal city known for its relaxed atmosphere and ambitious vision for economic growth. The city is a rising center for the film industry and home to the Port of Busan, the sixth-largest container port in the world. During the program, students will have the opportunity to engage with entrepreneurs, established businesses, and professional organizations across South Korea, gaining valuable insights into the country’s dynamic economy and culture.

In this course, students will learn:

• How South Korean businesses compete globally across the major economic drivers of manufacturing, shipping, technology, and media 
• The cultural underpinnings of South Korean innovation and how the nation's geopolitical position affects its economy
• The impact of history and geography on the development of South Korean industry
• The rich culinary scene and the role food plays in South Korean culture
• Why South Korean film and music has grown in popularity and the importance of music and dance
• How South Korean firms interpret Ops Is Life (#opsislife)
