Rita Gunn is an Assistant Professor in the Accounting area at the Darden School of Business. Her research interests focus on how corporate disclosures affect investor information and economic outcomes. Within this area, Rita has utilized the mergers and acquisitions setting to examine unique accounting treatments and information contexts. Rita currently teaches the core managerial and financial accounting class in the MBA program.

Rita received her Ph.D. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and her B.S. in Accounting and B.A. in Economics from North Carolina State University, where she graduated as valedictorian. Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., Rita worked for the FDIC, conducting comprehensive bank examinations to assess the financial health and regulatory compliance of financial institutions.
