Empowering Change: The UVA-PLE Curriculum Difference
Our revolutionary, continuously evolving curriculum, developed by leading educators from UVA's Darden School of Business and School of Education and Human Development, has ignited similar transformations in thirty two states. Recognized as among the nation's best, our approach to school transformation goes beyond theory — it equips teams to address their most concrete, pressing challenges and create systems that advance tangible, life-changing results.
The heart of our curriculum lies in advancing collective leadership practices that help teams improve four transformative levers –
Systems Leadership, Support and Accountability, Talent Management, and Instructional Infrastructure.
-
Leadership: Systems require the will and capacity to prioritize what is necessary to improve the lives of the children they serve and present a clear vision for the path ahead.
-
Differentiated Support and Accountability: System leaders must provide schools with the capacity-building, support, accountability and flexibility needed to achieve urgent change. This support must be tailored to each individual system and school.
-
Talent Management: Creating the environment for success requires having the right people in place to carry out the work. We work with districts to enhance the selection of school leaders, the number of highly effective staff and the development of existing staff.
-
Instructional Infrastructure: A core component of our work involves data-driven instruction to create an evidence-based approach to better serve students. We work with system leaders to create and implement a cohesive assessment strategy, responsive data systems and a high-quality curriculum.
These levers are not mere topics of study, but they are the core principles that we empower leaders to internalize and apply in their educational contexts. These principles serve as both the compass and the engine for the changes they will initiate in their school systems.
