Mental Health, Nutrition, and Accessibility

  • Where can I seek mental health support at Darden?

    At Darden, we have two mental health support professionals - Dr. Debbie Wilson and Karen Painter: To have a meeting with Dr. Wilson or Ms. Painter, either e-mail DardenCAPS@darden.virginia.edu with your availability or call the main CAPS line at +1-434-243-5150 and identify yourself as a Darden student wishing to schedule with Dr. Wilson or Ms. Painter.

    Accessing Timely Care

    TimelyCare: This is a free service – regardless of your insurance provider – is available for students both in crisis (24/7 care) as well as on-going needs (up to 12 sessions) with the latter having wait times of 24-48 hours. Three quick things:

    • Use your UVA (e.g. slw3n) e-mail address when logging in.
    • If you are trying to access Psychiatry, you’ll need a code that will be provided by either a TimelyCare or CAPS counselor after speaking with that person.
    • If you are having technical difficulties with the site or app, call +1-833-484-6359.

     

  • Mental Health Wellness/Prayer Space (Room 234)

    This room will be intended for students who are looking for a space to engage in personal prayer time and/or mindfulness. This room can be used as a space for students who are feeling anxiety/stress/in need of a private space to cope with overwhelming time intervals during the MBA experience. If interested, please reach out to Eva Blau at BlauE@darden.virginia.edu.

  • Where can I seek mental health support outside of Darden?

    The UVA Women's Center provides free virtual or in-person counseling to all current students, regardless of gender identity.
    Help Happens Here helps residents find or low-cost mental health services in the community.

  • What resources are available for nutrition-based counseling?

    UVA Nutrition offers appointments for students who would like help with creating a nutrition plan based on your unique medical needs.

  • Where can I find information regarding student accessibility?

    Darden, as a part of UVA’s larger mission is committed to ensuring equal access to our programs, services, and activities for individuals with disabilities, and has many tools and resources to support an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone.

    The Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) helps all students with disabilities explore accommodations in courses and University-sponsored programs. If you have questions regarding student accommodations, please email us at sdac@virginia.edu.

We know that taking two years off from work requires a lot of thought and financial planning. If you ever have questions about applying for or processing information related to financial aid, please don’t hesitate to contact the Darden Financial Aid Office.

  • Darden Food Pantry

    The purpose of the Hoos Pantry at North Grounds is to provide students with consistent, reliable access to food items. This is especially important in ensuring that no one in our community experiences food insecurity. In the past, the food pantry has been stocked with non-perishable food items include a mix of the following, depending on availability: mac and cheese, Thai noodles, chickpea beans, black beans, apple sauce, granola bars, cereal, rice, quinoa, couscous, coffee, tea, toilet paper, paper towels, and sanitary items. Please take what you may need.

    The food pantry is located Down the hall and around the corner from Classroom 50 (bottom floor of the classroom building). The non-perishable items are in the metal cabinets right next to the fridge. Students can reach out to Sarah Elliott with any needs/questions. All inquiries will be anonymous.

  • Student Fridge

    There is a student fridge adjacent to where the mailboxes are situated. Additionally, there is also a printer located in this room. You can use this fridge to store food that you’ve brought for the day. In the side room next to Café 67, there is a microwave that you can use to warm up any food that you’ve brought with you.

  • Health Support for Low-Income Residents
