Part-Time MBA - Schedule

Schedule

The Part-Time MBA format offers weeknight courses on Mondays and Thursdays with minimal disruption to weekends during the course of the program. Find the right pace that fits for you with flexibility to graduate within 28 to 48 month after enrolling.

Set Your Own Pace

The Part-Time MBA consists of an 18-month cohort-based core curriculum followed by an elective period. Classes take place on Monday and Thursday evenings, from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET, with typically two class sessions per night and weeks alternating between in-person and virtual delivery. This hybrid design offers busy working professionals the best of both worlds – intensive in-person class meetings, allowing for important community formation and network development, as well as engaging online sessions, maximizing flexibility and convenience.

Students in the Part-Time MBA program take the same core curriculum as students in Darden’s Full-Time MBA and Executive MBA formats. Students progress through the core as a cohort before entering an elective period in which they can choose to accelerate their course of study or advance towards graduation at a more deliberate pace. The fastest completion timeline for Part-Time MBA students is 28 months. The slowest path is 48 months. The standard pacing is 33 months. All Part-Time MBA students enroll in August.

While the base location for the Part-Time MBA program is UVA Darden DC Metro in Rosslyn, the program also includes two touchpoints in Charlottesville, a week-long residency at the beginning of the program and another week-long residency at the conclusion of the core curricular period, roughly 20 months into the program.

During the elective period, students take a total of 17 elective courses as they progress towards the 60 credit hours required for graduation. Students choose from a diverse slate of electives offered for Part-Time MBA students and also have the ability to enroll in Executive MBA and Full-Time MBA electives, space permitting and with faculty approval. For students seeking an international experience during their MBA program, Part-Time MBA students may also participate in a global elective.
