Joanne Meier
Assistant Dean, Instructional and Digital Initiatives
Joanne Meier, Ph.D. is the Senior Assistant Dean for Digital and Instructional Initiatives at Darden. In this capacity, she leads teams focused on instructional design, media and production, and synchronous course delivery. Her work includes faculty instructional and curricular efforts related to GenAI, the design of innovative learning experiences and developing data driven insights for use in Darden’s student-centered environment. Joanne and her teams led Darden’s instructional pivots during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meier joined Darden in 2014, and previously served on the faculty at the University of Virginia’s School of Education and Human Development. She has worked in a broad range of settings, from top ranked business schools to the Public Broadcast Service (PBS), providing guidance and expertise related to curriculum and instruction to a wide range of stakeholders.
Meier earned her Ph.D. and M.Ed from the University of Virginia and a BA from the University of South Carolina.
